Newcastle fans were unimpressed to see Derby County boss Steve McClaren and Nottingham Forest’s Steve McClaren land monthly awards.

Newcastle United might be top of the Championship, but they have had a testing month, and fallen short in terms of individual accolades.

The EFL have confirmed that the winners of the Manager of the Month award and Player of the Month are none other than Steve McClaren and Henri Lansbury, two individuals held in particularly low regard in the North East.

McClaren was Newcastle manager this time last season and his disastrous spell led to the Magpies being relegated into the Championship.

He has since returned to football with former club Derby County, where he replaced Nigel Pearson earlier this season.

Nottingham Forest midfielder Henri Lansbury enraged Newcastle supporters last weekend when he was involved in two separate incidents which led to two Toon players being sent off.

Forest won the game 2-1, while red cards given to Jonjo Shelvey and Paul Dummett were later overturned by the EFL.

The incidents will not have come into play however for the November award, with last Friday’s match held on December 2.

Despite this, Newcastle supporters were particularly unimpressed with the EFL’s awards, and vented on Twitter to express their dissatisfaction.
