Newcastle fans react to midfielder’s Nottingham Forest loan.
Jack Colback’s frustrating season at Newcastle United is over – with the midfielder joining Nottingham Forest on deadline day on loan.
Colback signed on loan at Forest until the end of the season after Rafa Benitez made clear this season he was not in his plans.
He was one of several players signed by Forest on deadline day – and one of three central midfielders.
Colback will clearly have to fight for his place, but he will revel in having the opportunity to do so.
He was not given this chance at Newcastle this season, with Rafa Benitez leaving him to train with the academy.
Colback can now get his career back on track and can aim to earn a permanent move away from Newcastle with a big second half of the season, whether his future lies with Forest or elsewhere.
The former Sunderland midfielder made 29 appearances in the Championship last season, 24 as a starter.
Newcastle fans though are glad to see him depart, seeing it as a sign the club is moving forward, although would have preferred a permanent deal.
