Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez celebrates with Ismael Tiote at the end of the match
Cheick Tiote has finally put an end to his Newcastle United career, joining Turkish side Galatasaray for £1.6m according to the Daily Mail.
The 30-year-old joined the Magpies from FC Twente in 2010 and went on to make 153 appearances for the club, scoring one goal.
And it’s a goal that holds a special place in many Newcastle fans’ hearts as the stunning 30-yard volley marked the completion of a historic four goal comeback against Arsenal.

Still, Newcastle fans to this day insist it’s not Tiote’s only goal for the club as he hit an equally emphatic strike into the back of the net against Manchester City in 2014 only to sit it controversially disallowed for offside.
The Ivorian international suffered more disallowed goal distress last season against West Bromwich Albion though that time it was probably justified.

Notorious for his robust approach and uncanny ability to pick up yellow cards, Tiote was certainly a well-liked figure on Tyneside even though his influence had waned in recent seasons.
