Newcastle United will be chasing January signings, with Manchester City defender Nathan Ake now believed to be a top target.
Eddie Howe is in as Newcastle’s new manager, and he may be keen on reuniting with a number of his former Bournemouth players.
90Min claim that Howe fancies signing Bournemouth duo Lloyd Kelly and Jefferson Lerma.
Howe is also thought to be keen on signing Manchester City defender Ake, who was at Bournemouth under Howe.
City paid £41million to sign Ake from Bournemouth in 2020, but he has been fourth-choice centre back under Pep Guardiola.
Stuck behind Ruben Dias, John Stones and Aymeric Laporte at the Etihad Stadium, Ake has only played 20 league games for City.
Howe called Ake ‘outstanding’ in 2019, and PIF allegedly planned to sign Ake if their 2020 takeover bid went through, so this new rumour makes a lot of sense.

Newcastle fans react to Ake rumours
Newcastle supporters have been taking to Twitter to react to the Ake rumours, with some hoping to see the Dutch international join.
Many think Ake is a level above the players Newcastle have in defence right now and he would walk into the Magpies side.
Others think Ake is ‘perfect’ for Newcastle and exactly what they need, praying that the rumour is true.
Some even predict that Ake will be Newcastle’s first signing in January given his links to Howe and lack of football at City.
