Newcastle United lost their opening match of the season 1-0 to Arsenal at the weekend.

Newcastle were beaten 1-0 by the Gunners at St. James’ Park, and they failed to pose much of a threat during the contest.
The Magpies had some chances early on, but as the game progressed they found it harder and harder to get any joy against Arsenal’s defence.
Ritchie insisted after the game that Newcastle had some ‘positives’ to take out of the contest, as they were only narrowly beaten by a top six side.
But Newcastle fans were not pleased with Ritchie’s analysis of the game.
Newcastle managed only two shots on target against Arsenal, as they failed to trouble Bernd Leno.
With the Gunners having a young team out, Newcastle’s display was slightly concerning, but they do still have time to improve.
Steve Bruce’s side’s next match comes against Norwich City on Saturday.
