Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce has suggested that he deserves respect.

Newcastle United fans have not taken kindly to Steve Bruce seemingly asking for more respect from his critics.
Bruce has many doubters at St. James’ Park, who have been against his appointment from the start.
Bruce has not exactly turned supporter opinion around at Newcastle so far, with the Magpies hardly in inspiring form.
Newcastle have picked up some impressive results – including wins over Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester Untied – but they currently sit in 17th place in the Premier League table.
And Bruce’s comments about Newcastle supporters have not exactly gone down well.
He said to Sky Sports: “They are a quite unique support. Against Manchester United, St. James’ Park was what it should be.
“I understand we need a few results along the way to get the doubters over to you. I’m never going to be everyone’s cup of tea, but after 950 games I’d like to think to show some sort of respect, I’d like to think I know what I’m doing.”
Unfortunately for Bruce he may have made the comments at the wrong time, with frustrations still clear at Newcastle.
Many Magpies fans feel that they have gone backwards since Rafael Benitez’s departure, and Bruce’s words have been widely criticised.
With Newcastle so close to the relegation zone, the pressure is only likely to build on Bruce.
Newcastle will need to improve their form if Bruce is to properly silence his critics, but whether they will be able do so in the coming weeks remains to be seen.
The Magpies are next in action on Saturday when they take on West Ham United at the London Stadium.
