The Serbian forward remains very popular on Tyneside, but Newcastle fans are starting to admit that a move may be best for the target-man.
Mitrovic just does not seem to feature in Rafael Benitez’s plans, after he was left on the bench once again as Newcastle were beaten by Chelsea last weekend.
And Magpies fans claim they could feel no resentment towards Mitrovic, if he did decide to move away in January.
Mitrovic has started just one game this season, and has played just 150 Premier League minutes in total.
Mitrovic’s continued absence from Benitez’s starting line-ups has been a surprise, as Newcastle have struggled for goals.
Although Dwight Gayle has started scoring recently, Joselu has not looked sharp, but the Spaniard has still been preferred to Mitrovic.
