Newcastle United fans celebrated wildly on Wednesday night as the club clinched a stunning comeback over Norwich City.

Except of course those who left the ground early, and missed the two injury time goals from Yoan Gouffran and Dwight Gayle.

One supporter who missed the dramatic scenes spoke to BBC Radio 5 Live, and admitted he was not best pleased to have missed out.

The fan, named only as ‘Ryan’ spoke to the station after the game. He said: “We were heading out on a quiet car journey and it turned into a party bus.

“We were well gone. It was a long drive back.

“I can’t describe how we’re feeling right now. You can’t write it, it’s just Newcastle all over. I’m furious what they’re doing to me.”

He was one of three fans driving back to Swindon, and left the ground with Newcastle 3-2 down.

While they were evidently happy Newcastle won, missing out on the scenes at the end is a tough – self inflicted – pill to swallow.

The win took Newcastle to within a point of Norwich, who are in second, ahead of their weekend clash away to Rotherham United.

The never say die spirit of this Newcastle side is likely to ensure fans stay in future right to the final whistle, especially if there is just one goal in it.
