Newcastle United want Dominic Calvert-Lewin but their valuation seems to be wildly different from the one Everton have in mind.
The Magpies pulled well clear of the relegation zone under Eddie Howe but Everton found it a little more difficult.
Frank Lampard did keep them in the Premier League but with just one game to spare as Everton dragged themselves to safety.
Financial Fair Play remains a concern for Everton this summer and that could impact Lampard’s spending ability.
A big sale may be needed and Newcastle are ready to pounce for Calvert-Lewin.
Newcastle United want Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Calvert-Lewin has been linked with Newcastle for some time and new claims have emerged this week.
The Mirror claim that Newcastle are ready to make a bid to sign Calvert-Lewin.
The Magpies – backed by the millions from PIF – are understood to be wanting to test Everton’s resolve.
Fully aware of Everton’s financial issues, Newcastle seemingly think they can secure a cut-price deal.
Calvert-Lewin is allegedly ‘open to a move’ this summer and Newcastle are offering an escape route.
The problem would come with the fee involved.

Newcastle may think that Everton are in need of a sale but the Toffees are allegedly seeking a ‘massive’ fee.
Everton point out that Calvert-Lewin has only been behind Harry Kane in England’s striking pecking order in recent times and he is valued at over £100million.
In fact, it’s suggested that Everton’s starting point for a sale may even be £85million – the fee they sold Romelu Lukaku to Manchester Untied for in 2017.
Newcastle absolutely won’t be paying that kind of money for Calvert-Lewin and nor should they.
Yes, Calvert-Lewin is a fine striker; hard-working, quick for his size and a huge aerial threat, but he has suffered many injury problems this past season and managed just five goals in almost 1300 Premier League minutes.
Newcastle would surely want that fee to be halved to even consider paying up for Calvert-Lewin, with Everton’s stance maybe scaring them off.
