Newcastle United continue to be linked with new managers – and Ajax boss Erik ten Hag is one name being touted for a move to Tyneside.

Newcastle’s takeover last week means Steve Bruce is likely to leave the club, possibly even before this weekend’s game against Tottenham Hotspur.

With big money now at Newcastle, many manager would surely be keen on moves to St James’ Park.

The Chronicle claim that Ajax boss Erik ten Hag is one of them, with the Dutchman keen on a move to Newcastle.

Roberto Martinez and Lucien Favre are interested too, but Ten Hag is a particularly intriguing name.

The Dutchman has impressed in charge of Ajax having made a 2017 move from Utrecht.

With 130 wins from 178 games at Ajax, Ten Hag has excelled. He has won two league titles and two cups, whilst taking Ajax to the Champions League semi-finals in 2019.

Ten Hag’s side have played attractive, attacking football and he has helped develop the likes of Matthijs de Ligt, Frankie de Jong, Donny van de Beek and Antony.

That could make him appealing to Newcastle, but Ten Hag has poured cold water on claims he wants the Magpies job.

Ten Hag has told Sport Bild that he has no reason to think about leaving Ajax.

The 51-year-old added that an ‘extraordinary’ offer is all that could tempt him away from Ajax – and Newcastle could well offer that with their riches.

“For me there is currently no reason to think about it,” said Ten Hag. “I’m very happy at Ajax and I give everything for the club every day. I know that nothing can be planned in football. But an extraordinary offer would have to come to change my plans,” he added.
