Newcastle United’s search for a new manager could now see them appoint Eddie Howe – and that would mean a reunion with striker Callum Wilson.
The Magpies haven’t even parted ways with Steve Bruce yet, but there are many rumours surrounding a potential replacement.
The Mirror claim that Howe is now in the discussions of Newcastle’s new owners as they seek a new manager.
90Min even suggest that Howe is one of just three managers left on Newcastle’s shortlist. The other two are Lucien Favre and Paulo Fonseca.
Howe has been out of management since leaving Bournemouth at the end of the 2019-20 season.
A move to Celtic looked close earlier this year, but he could end up back in the Premier League with Newcastle.
Howe a big fan of Newcastle striker Wilson
If Howe does end up going to Newcastle, that would mean a reunion with three players.
Matt Ritchie, Ryan Fraser and Callum Wilson all played under Howe at Bournemouth.

Howe was credited with developing Wilson, and he branded the now-Newcastle hitman as a ‘menace’ back in 2015.
67 of Wilson’s 106 senior goals came under Howe, whilst he even racked up 31 assists.
Wilson could relish a reunion with Howe having played great football under him for six years.
That’s something to keep an eye on, as Newcastle’s new owners may feel that Howe can make an instant impact given that he already knows some important Magpies players.
