Newcastle United signed Stuart Findlay from Celtic during the summer transfer window.

Stuart Findlay has told the Shields Gazette that Newcastle United coach Peter Beardsley immediately told him that the responsibility was on him to make his move to St. James’ Park a success.
Findlay joined Newcastle from Celtic last summer, with the North East side spotting the defender’s potential.
The 21-year-old has made one senior appearance for Newcastle to date.
And Beardsley’s very first words to him, after he signed, have still stuck with the centre-back.
“When I signed this season, Peter Beardsley told me it was up to me to do it,” Findlay said.
“Obviously, I did well and got my first-team debut. That was a massive bonus. And I tried to kick on with the Under-23s.
“You wouldn’t be playing at Under-23 level if you didn’t want to play for the first team.
“It’s just a case of getting stuck in at the age group you’re asked to play at and trying to catch your own coach’s and helping your team-mates. If that’s the case, you never know.”
Findlay has impressed at development squad level for Newcastle this season, where he has been a regular starter.
Findlay has made 14 appearances for Newcastle’s under-23’s, and scored twice from his defensive position.
It seems unlikely that Findlay will be given further first-team chances this term, as Newcastle are under pressure to ensure that they earn promotion.
The Magpies are currently in second place in the Championship table, with their next match coming against Leeds United on Friday evening.
