Fabian Schar could have a key role to play for Rafael Benitez’s Newcastle United side over the remainder of the season.

Schar picked up a head injury recently, and there were great concerns about the Newcastle defender.
However, the Swiss international insists that the problem was never as bad as was suggested, and he is more than ready to play his part for Rafael Benitez’s men now.
“I’m good,” Schar said.
“I had some games in the international break. The thing happened with the head, but everything is fine. I trained the whole week with the team in the build-up to the last game (Palace) and I’m feeling really good.
“For me, I don’t care what has been said. People have written and said a lot of stuff, but a lot of it is not true.
“I have no injury now, so hopefully we can stop talking about this.”

Schar played for Newcastle in their most recent match against Crystal Palace, but he could not help his side to victory.
Newcastle were beaten 1-0 at St. James’ Park, as their five game winning run at home came to an end.
Schar has generally impressed this season since securing a £3 million move to Tyneside last summer (Guardian), and he will be needed in the run in.
With Florian Lejeune ruled out for the season, Schar could now be set for a sustained run in Newcastle’s starting line-up over the coming weeks.
