Newcastle United have been urged to move for the likes of Edinson Cavani and Alexandre Lacazette in search of goals for the second half of the season.
Pundit Danny Murphy has told the Daily Mail that Newcastle need to be aiming high in the loan market.
Murphy believes big-name players won’t want to join Newcastle permanently due to relegation fears.
Yet with new riches thanks to their big takeover, Newcastle can maybe invest big wages in loan signings for an immediate impact.
Murphy believes £250,000-a-week Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani should be a target.
The ex-Liverpool man added that Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette and Chelsea’s Timo Werner should also be potential loan signings for Newcastle.
“They have the money to pay high wages so why not aim big in the loan market,” said Murphy. “Try to get Edinson Cavani in from Manchester United because he isn’t going to play at Old Trafford, or Alexandre Lacazette who is in the final year of his contract at Arsenal. Have a cheeky go for Timo Werner at Chelsea.”
“That type of player isn’t going to take the risk of joining permanently in case of relegation,” he added.

Are any of these moves realistic for Newcastle?
Werner is back in the Chelsea side at the moment, forming a strike partnership with Romelu Lukaku.
The German surely won’t leave Chelsea for Newcastle whilst he is in Thomas Tuchel’s team.
Alexandre Lacazette looks likely to leave Arsenal in 2022, but a loan doesn’t add up.
Lacazette is out of contract in the summer, so why would Arsenal loan him out? Only a permanent move make sense for Lacazette in January.
Cavani is an option that may seem more realistic now Cristiano Ronaldo is at Manchester United.
It still seems a little unlikely that the Uruguayan would head to Newcastle, especially as he is in the same contract situation as Lacazette.
