Newcastle United could have signed Nicolas Pepe back in January, but now look set to miss out.
According to a report in the Northern Echo, Manchester City are now rivalling Newcastle United for the signature of Nicolas Pepe.
Pepe has also attracted the attentions of Lille, with reports in France suggesting (France Football) that Marcelo Bielsa is keen on the Angers winger.
And the rising interest in the 22-year-old wide-man could mean that Newcastle regret stalling over completing a deal.

Newcastle have been interested in signing Pepe for over a year for £10 million (Chronicle), but have failed to complete a deal.
And City’s and Lille’s interest shows that the youngster’s form is now starting to attract attention.
Newcastle were seemingly the first to spot Pepe’s potential, as they were linked right back at the start of 2017.

But they may now have missed out on their chance to sign the rapid attacker, who scored three goals in Ligue 1 last season.
And if Pepe continues to progress at his current rate, then Newcastle could look back and regret not making a move for the 22-year-old when they had their opportunity.
