Newcastle United are said to be keen on the Ajax defender, who failed to impress at the World Cup.

According to The Sun, Newcastle United are chasing Ajax defender Nicolas Tagliafico for £8 million, and at that price, he could be a potential bargain.

While the World Cup often serves to raise players’ price-tags to exorbitant amounts, Taglifiaco arguably didn’t give the best showing of himself in Russia.

The Ajax defender was part of a Argentina side who badly struggled at the tournament, and his value actually may have fallen due to his poor performances on the big stage.

However, that should not put Newcastle off, as it simply means that now is the right time to buy him.

Taglifiaco was one of the best defenders in Holland last season, with his performances for Ajax earning a great deal of praise.

The left-back managed to show great quality both in defensive an attacking areas.
