Newcastle United want Conor Gallagher this summer with boss Eddie Howe thought to be a huge fan of the Chelsea midfielder.
That’s according to The Athletic, who claims that Gallagher is a firm favourite of Howe’s ahead of the summer transfer window.
It looks like Newcastle will be very keen on snapping up Gallagher this summer.
The London Evening Standard reported in February that Newcastle will be the front runners to secure Gallagher’s signature.
Magpies boss Howe appears to be driving that interest and has him as one of his preferred targets.
Gallagher has only started 10 Premier League games this season and Chelsea’s huge spending may just push him out of the plans.
Gallagher may well be tempted to leave and become a key player elsewhere; if he does, you can be sure Newcastle and Howe will be interested.

Newcastle United considering midfield options amid Conor Gallagher interest
Newcastle have been building an impressive side since their take-over but clearly need some more quality in midfield.
Bruno Guimaraes is a superstar and Howe has been getting more out of Joe Willock, Sean Longstaff and Joelinton.
Newcastle seem to have ideas to bring in two more midfielders though; one who can protect the back four and one who can be a goal threat.
Holding midfielders like Edson Alvarez and Moises Caicedo have been monitored as Newcastle look to free up Bruno further forward.
Links to James Maddison won’t go away and whilst Gallagher isn’t quite the technician Maddison is, he can still offer a goal threat from midfield.
Gallagher racked up eight goals and three assists on loan at Crystal Palace last season and Howe may think he can get similar production out of him.
Chelsea will surely demand a huge fee for Gallagher, who has been hailed as ‘fantastic’ by Graham Potter, but Newcastle have cash to spend and will be looking to give Howe the players he wants.
