Newcastle United want Cody Drameh and the Leeds United talent is now expected to leave Elland Road during the January transfer window.

Leeds have added so much young talent under Victor Orta and there are only so many minutes available.

Drameh has found first-team action hard to come by at Leeds; in fact, he has played just 70 minutes in the Premier League this season.

The 20-year-old may have hoped to become Leeds’ right back of the future but the summer signing of Rasmus Kristensen ended those dreams.

Newcastle United want Cody Drameh

Kristensen has come in for Luke Ayling at right back and that means Drameh is being limited to Premier League 2 action.

This comes despite impressing on loan at Cardiff City last season and Drameh’s patience may now be running out.

Drameh came through the Fulham ranks before joining Leeds in 2020, believing Elland Road would be ideal for his future.

That hasn’t really worked out and Drameh appears ready to move on.

The Yorkshire Evening Post report that Leeds are open to permanent offers for Drameh and the player himself wants to play elsewhere.

It looks like Drameh is being primed for a January departure and there will be plenty of suitors.

Fabrizio Romano claimed earlier this month that Newcastle United remain keen on Drameh having been interested over the summer.

Borussia Dortmund, Lille and Bayer Leverkusen are all interested too according to Romano, with moves to France or Germany becoming possibilities.

Leeds may rather see Drameh head abroad than join a Premier League rival, but the chance to learn from Kieran Trippier could be very appealing.

Hailed as ‘excellent’ by former Cardiff boss Steve Morison, Drameh clearly has huge potential but he may now go and fulfil it elsewhere having failed to break through at Leeds.
