Carroll has reportedly fallen out with David Moyes, with the Daily Mail now suggesting that the target-man could leave in the summer.
And there are a section of Newcastle fans who want Carroll to be brought back to St. James’ Park.
Carroll broke through at Newcastle and was a prolific scorer for them in his younger years.
The England international forward found the back of the net 33 times in 91 appearances before leaving to join Liverpool in 2010.
Since departing Newcastle, Carroll’s career has been blighted by injury – but he has still shown his quality when fit.
Newcastle are looking for a new striker, as they have failed to find a regular goalscorer this campaign.
And if Carroll was to stay fit and healthy, there is little doubting that he would be an upgrade on Newcastle’s current striking options.
