Newcastle United are pushing to sign Youssoufa Moukoko and may benefit from Chelsea focusing their attention on Joao Felix.
That’s according to The Northern Echo, who suggest that Newcastle have managed to swoop into the race for Felix.
It’s suggested that Chelsea have been offering ‘strong competition’ for Moukoko and have been in contact with Borussia Dortmund officials.
However, Chelsea have been placing a keen focus on signing Atletico Madrid attacker Joao Felix.
A loan deal for Felix now appears to be imminent with Chelsea on the verge of signing the Portuguese star.
That focus appears to have allowed Newcastle in for Moukoko with the Magpies now hopeful of securing a huge deal.

We would have expected that clubs can work on more than one deal at once, but even in those situations, one deal maybe does take priority over another.
Newcastle may well benefit from that and there have been strong rumours of a deal for Moukoko being in the pipeline.
The London Evening Standard report that Chelsea risk missing out as Newcastle have made a ‘substantial verbal approach for Moukoko.
Newcastle have allegedly offered at least £150,000-a-week to Moukoko in the hope of securing his signature.
Dortmund are struggling to reach his wage demands and with Chelsea signing other attackers like David Datro Fofana and now Joao Felix, Newcastle have genuine hope.
Moukoko, 18, is already a Germany international and has bagged six goals as well as four assists in just 14 Bundesliga games this season.
Considered to be one of the top teenage strikers in world football, Moukoko wouldn’t be out of place at any elite club.
That Newcastle now have real hope of bringing him to Tyneside is a sign of the project and the plans at St James’ Park.
Beating Chelsea would be a major win in itself, but when it’s a talent like Moukoko, this is one that Newcastle fans should be excited about.
