Newcastle United fancy signing Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech and the idea of taking him on loan with a permanent option is very appealing.
That’s according to The Telegraph, who claim that Newcastle hold a ‘strong interest’ in signing Ziyech during the January window.
It’s stated that Ziyech is a much cheaper potential addition than Anthony Gordon for Newcastle, with the Magpies weighing up their options.
The report claims that a loan deal for Ziyech with an option to buy over the summer has strong appeal to Newcastle’s recruitment setup.
Chelsea’s influx of new signings – including two new wingers in Noni Madueke and Mykhailo Mudryk – means players like Ziyech could be available.
Newcastle may well secure Gordon but Ziyech may still be a name to keep close tabs on in the coming days.

Hakim Ziyech would offer Newcastle something completely different to Anthony Gordon
Newcastle are chasing Gordon, seemingly believing that his pace and drive can give Eddie Howe another dangerous weapon in the final third.
Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron both have impressive pace too, but Ziyech can offer something different.
The Moroccan isn’t the type to try and blaze past a full back with raw speed and he may actually give Newcastle something they don’t have right now.
Ziyech has a great passing range, loves the ball to feet, can create in the final third and isn’t afraid to shoot from range or from free kicks.
The 29-year-old has a superb left foot and could help bring a little more guile to the Newcastle attack – which has been lacking at times.
Chelsea spent £33million on Ziyech in 2020 having seen him shine for Ajax, but he has managed just 14 goals and 11 assists in 98 games.
Ziyech, who actually started for Chelsea against Liverpool last weekend, may be ready for a fresh start elsewhere and Newcastle may push for a move in the next few days.
