Newcastle United are interested in signing Cade Cowell after the San Jose Earthquakes talent compared himself to Kylian Mbappe.

It has taken Miguel Almiron a little longer than expected to become a star for Newcastle.

The former Atlanta United is though showing that Major League Soccer talents can shine in the Premier League.

Newcastle may now look to the MLS market once again with Cowell now believed to be a prime target.

90Min report that Newcastle have expressed their interest in signing Cowell – but they face a real battle.

Bayern Munich are also keen whilst Italian giants AC Milan and Juventus are considered to be the favourites for his signature.

Newcastle may be wondering just what kind of talent Cowell is – and he certainly thinks highly of his own ability.

Cowell, 19, has already played 86 times for San Jose Earthquakes, bagging 11 goals.

Primarily a winger, Cowell has impressed with his pace, strength and all-round athletic ability.

The teenager is being backed for an enormous future for the US national team and in Europe, whenever he leaves San Jose.

Cowell spoke to Transfermarkt back in 2021 and when asked to name a player he would compare himself to, he gave a bold answer.

“I see myself like Mbappé,” said Cowell, likening himself to the Paris Saint-Germain sensation.

Mbappe looks set to become one of the greatest players of a generation so it’s a lofty comparison.

With great speed and the ability to play out wide or up front, maybe Cowell thinks he can become a similar threat to the Frenchman as he develops in the coming years.

When Newcastle were taken over in 2021, some were expecting names like Mbappe to end up at St James’ Park.

Instead, Newcastle could land an attacker who thinks of himself in a similar way to the Paris Saint-Germain talent.
