Bruno Guimaraes has praised Miguel Almiron after his match-winning strike for Newcastle United against Everton.

Many will remember various parts of The Last Dance where Michael Jordan indicated that things became personal for him.

If somebody slighted him, greeted him the wrong way, doubted him, ignored him – that was enough, you were on Jordan’s list.

It’s starting to feel like Miguel Almiron has a similar list, only it’s a piece of paper with Jack Grealish’s name on it.

Ever since Grealish drunkenly suggested that Riyad Mahrez was so bad on the final day of last season that he was playing like Almiron, the Newcastle star has been unbelievable.

Bruno Guimaraes has praised Miguel Almiron

On Wednesday, it was Everton’s turn to meet the wrath of Almiron.

The Paraguayan midfielder grabbed the only goal of the game as Newcastle beat Everton 1-0 at St James’ Park.

Bruno Guimaraes shifted the ball to Almiron on the edge of the box and he excited a first-time, lofted, curling finish over Jordan Pickford and into the net.

This wasn’t vintage Newcastle but Almiron will be delighted to have continued his outstanding form.

Almiron has now racked up five goals in just 11 Premier League games this season and has four in his last four.

It’s great to see Almiron playing with so much confidence after years of being derided, and he has now received praise from Bruno Guimaraes.

The Brazilian told The Northern Echo after Wednesday’s win that he thinks Almiron is an ‘amazing’ teammate and loves that he has been assisting him of late.

Bruno Guimaraes added that Almiron’s goal was simply ‘beautiful’ and the hope is that Almiron can keep this form going for Newcastle.

“Miggy is an amazing guy,” said Bruno Guimaraes. “I am happy because all of my assists are always for Miggy. So, we are happy we are doing well. I am proud of the team. It was a big step for us today – and it was a beautiful goal,” he added.

Nobody will really forget Grealish’s comments; disrespectful and ill-fated, but few could have expected Almiron to respond in such blistering fashion.
