Bruno Guimaraes dazzled for Newcastle United against Brentford on Saturday and took to Twitter to jokingly praise his own performance.

The Magpies were looking for another big win having hammered Fulham 4-1 at Craven Cottage last weekend.

Another West London team were dismantled on Saturday as Brentford were smashed 5-1 at St James’ Park.

Goals from Jacob Murphy, Miguel Almiron and an Ethan Pinnock own goal helped Newcastle on their way, but midfielder Bruno Guimaraes stole the show.

Bruno Guimaraes dazzled for Newcastle United

The Brazilian opened the scoring for Newcastle, planting a header beyond David Raya from a pinpoint Kieran Trippier cross.

Bruno Guimaraes then added a second, driving forward through midfield before finishing low past Raya to make it 3-1 to Newcastle.

This was a true all-round masterclass from Bruno Guimaraes in the Newcastle engine room.

Two goals, two key passes, one tackle won and one successful dribble, as well as 43 accurate passes; Bruno Guimaraes ran the show for Newcastle.

This is why Newcastle brought the Brazilian and this kind of display shows that Bruno Guimaraes can be one of the top midfielders in the Premier League.

His recent injury – which saw him miss games against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Liverpool and Crystal Palace – saw Newcastle pick up just two points from three games.

In the three games since Bruno Guimaraes has returned, Newcastle have racked up seven points.

Newcastle fans have a new hero and the January signing from Lyon has proven his worth after his big-money move.

When a Twitter user posted a video of Bruno Guimaraes in action against Brentford, the Newcastle star just couldn’t resist making a comment.

Bruno Guimaraes took to Twitter to simply state ‘what a player’ when talking about himself, and you would be hard-pressed to find a Magpies fan who disagrees with that assessment.
