Newcastle United are still keen to bring a central defender to the club, but they have failed with a bid to sign Torino star Gleison Bremer.
You would be better off naming the players who haven’t been linked with a move to Newcastle in recent weeks.
Even just centre backs alone, there has been Mason Holgate, Diego Carlos, Joe Rodon, Sven Botman, Nico Schlotterbeck and Benoit Badiashile.
It seems that Newcastle are looking for not one but two centre backs; one right footed and one left footed.
That would give Eddie Howe the balance he wants at the back, but actually signing these players is tough.
Corriere Granata report that Newcastle have made an offer worth around €30milion (£25million) to sign Torino star Bremer.
It’s claimed that the offer was immediately rejected, with Torino having no intention of selling Bremer now.
Instead, their plan is to spend the coming months desperately trying to convince Bremer to sign a new contract.
Bremer’s deal expires in 2023 and Torino want him to exited his deal just to preserve his value and sell him on this summer.
It’s unclear whether Newcastle plan to go back in with a new offer for Bremer, but they may be wasting their time if they do.

The Daily Mail noted on Tuesday that Newcastle fancy Bremer, and he is represented by the same agency as Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood – CAA Base.
That may help Newcastle if they can get to the stage of personal terms, but convincing Torino is the issue here.
Bremer, 24, has been hailed as ‘really incredible’ by Fabrizio Romano and has excelled in the Torino defence.
Athletic, a great reader of the game and able to produce some truly incredible sliding tackles, Bremer appears to have real potential for the future.
This would be a major coup for Newcastle if they pull it off, but it looks like the Brazilian won’t be Tyneside-bound.
