Vurnon Anita and Yoan Gouffran’s contracts at Newcastle United are both set to expire at the end of the season.
Rafael Benitez has told the Shields Gazette that he recently held a meeting with Newcastle United managing director Lee Charnley over the futures of Yoan Gouffran and Vurnon Anita.
The pair’s contracts are both due to expire at the end of the campaign, but they have played important roles for Newcastle this season.

Gouffran and Anita have both regularly featured in Newcastle’s starting line-ups this term, and when asked if either have futures at St. James’ Park, Benitez said: “I had a conversation with Lee Charnley on Thursday, and we were talking about that.
“We are pleased with them, and it’s just a question of to see if we can progress and make something with them.”

Reports have suggested that Newcastle may allow the pair to leave Tyneside at the end of the season.
Newcastle are building their squad for the Premier League, as Benitez plans an immediate return to the top level.
The Magpies are currently leading the way in the Championship, despite not playing at their best over recent weeks.
Newcastle are next in action later today, when they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.
