Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez has told Sky Bet’s official Youtube Channel that he is delighted to see Liverpool performing well.
Benitez was Liverpool manager between 2004 and 2010, and he is still very highly regarded at Anfield.
The Spanish boss guided Liverpool to the Champions League title, and he is widely considered as one of the Reds’ best managers in recent times.
Benitez still has a strong connection with Liverpool, and he is delighted to see his former side currently topping the Premier League table.
“They are doing well but we know that the Premier League has very strong teams, especially at the top of the table,” Benitez said, when asked whether Liverpool could win the Premier League this season.
“But I’m really pleased to see Liverpool doing well and Newcastle doing well.”
Liverpool have never won the Premier League before, but Jurgen Klopp’s side have been the outstanding team in England so far this season.
Liverpool have moved one point clear at the top of the Premier League table, with their attacking play catching the eye.
The Reds have scored 30 times in their first 11 matches, and signed off before the international break with a 6-1 win over Watford.
Benitez’s Newcastle side, meanwhile, are sat at the top of the Championship table, and look likely to be visiting Anfield next season as a Premier League club.
