Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez is reportedly in line for a move to China.
According to the Chronicle, Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez has expressed his shock at reports linking him with a move to China.
The Daily Mirror reported that Benitez was a target for a number of Chinese Super League clubs, who are determined to develop the reputation of the league.
Benitez would land a significant pay rise if he was to leave Newcastle and move to China.
However, the Spanish boss appeared to suggest that there was no substance in the reports linking him with a move away from St. James’ Park.
“It was a surprise to me,” he said, when asked about the rumours at his press conference earlier today.

Benitez’s future at Newcastle has already been put in doubt on a number of occasions, but he has stuck with the Tynesiders to date.
The former Liverpool and Real Madrid boss appears to be planning for the Premier League with the Magpies.
Newcastle are currently in second place in the Championship, after having an impressive season so far.
Newcastle could move to the top of the table tomorrow, if they are able to beat Brighton & Hove Albion in their next match.
