Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez should be boosted by their increased options in the coming weeks.

Rafael Benitez the head coach

Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez has told the Northern Echo that Mohamed Diame, Ki Sung-Yeung and Paul Dummett are all close to making returns to fitness.

Diame, Ki and Dummett have all been out injured recently for Newcastle, leaving Benitez’s options short.

But the Spaniard is hoping to have the trio back soon, although Jonjo Shelvey could be out for weeks still.

“I think Diame, Ki and Dummett are quite close, more so than Jonjo,’’ Benitez said. “We will see but the others are quite close so hopefully they will be available.”

Diame’s, Ki’s and Dummett’s returns will be a major boost for Newcastle, with positivity starting to come back to St. James’ Park.

Newcastle beat Manchester City recently, and brought in Antonio Barreca and Miguel Almiron on deadline day to improve their options.

If Diame, Ki and Dummett all return to fitness soon, Newcastle’s squad will start to look a lot stronger.

Newcastle are next in action a week today, when they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers.
