Newcastle United are said to be targeting Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge.

According to the Chronicle, Newcastle United will attempt to sign Daniel Sturridge from Liverpool during the summer transfer window.
The Magpies reportedly feel that Sturridge would improve the quality of their forward line.
And, given Benitez’s past praise of Sturridge, it is not too much of a surprise to see Newcastle linked with the England international.
Back in 2013, Benitez was so impressed with the partnership that Sturridge had formed with Luis Suarez at Liverpool, that he called the pair two of the best strikers in the Premier League.
“You will have to believe me when I say that it is not my connection with for Liverpool which makes me name Daniel Sturridge, too: a different sort of player but one who has confidence that comes with starting games,” Benitez said, when asked to name his five standout Premier League players by the Independent.
Sturridge’s career has rather faltered in recent times, with the 27-year-old struggling to break into Liverpool’s team this season.
Jurgen Klopp has been unable to get the best out of Sturridge, and there is now a feeling that he could move on in the summer.
If Newcastle were to sign Sturridge it would be a signal of their ambition, and Benitez would surely be delighted to have the clinical striker on board – given his past praise.
