Newcastle United want Borna Sosa with the Stuttgart left back now seemingly angling for a move away from the Bundesliga club.

The Magpies have been very calculated with their transfer business since their big takeover last year.

Dan Burn and Matt Targett are two of Newcastle’s signings that wouldn’t really go down as high-profile but they are both available at left back.

Eddie Howe may want a longer-term solution in that area moving forward and landing a quality attacking threat would make Newcastle even more dangerous.

Newcastle United want Borna Sosa

One name Newcastle appear to be considering is Stuttgart star Borna Sosa.

Bild report that Sosa wants to take the next step in his career and is looking to impress at the World Cup.

The Croatian left back is wanted by Newcastle, Inter Milan and Atalanta according to this report.

Sosa looks set to feature as Croatia’s first-choice left back and an impressive tournament in Qatar may lead to a January transfer.

Sosa would rather leave in the summer but Stuttgart will now be on red alert with the 24-year-old already eyeing a move away.

The former Dinamo Zagreb talent has proven himself to be an absolute assist machine from left back or left wing back.

Eight assists in 13 games this season is an astonishing record and he also racked up eight assists in 28 league games last season.

An outstanding crosser of the ball from both open play and dead ball situations, Sosa is a real threat and World Cup defences are about to learn that.

Newcastle may see Sosa as something of a left-sided Kieran Trippier going forward and Sosa has something in common with the Magpies star.

Trippier has been called ‘the Bury Beckham’ before and the official Bundesliga website compares Sosa to Beckham too.

Both players are so dangerous from set pieces and having that right foot and left foot combination would leave defences fearing every dead ball.

The idea of having both Sosa and Trippier whipping quality balls into the box is an exciting one and Newcastle will be watching closely in Qatar ahead of a potential move for the Stuttgart star.
