Newcastle United have opened negotiations with Monaco over a deal to sign Benoit Badiashile amid links to West Ham United.
That’s according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Newcastle have been holding talks with Monaco over a possible move for Badiashile.
Newcastle have been struggling to secure a deal for Lille star Sven Botman. That means the Magpies are now looking towards other left-footed centre backs.
One of the top targets is Badiashile, with talks now underway over a potential £35million deal.
That’s a big investment for Newcastle, coming in at a similar price to the fee offered for Botman.
Yet whilst Lille won’t sell Botman, there seems to be more hope of a potential deal for Badiashile.
It seems pretty clear that Eddie Howe is desperate for a left-footed centre back. There have been links to Lloyd Kelly, Nico Schlotterbeck and of course Botman.

Badiashile comes highly recommended. In 2020, Badiashile was branded the new Raphael Varane with Real Madrid chasing him.
Hailed as ‘very fast’ by Monaco’s Oleg Petrov, Badiashile combines that pace with a huge frame and the passing ability to play out from the back.
With Foot Mercato claiming that West Ham have now made their first move for Badiashile by contacting his representatives, Newcastle need to try and get this one done quickly.
