Barcelona want Bruno Guimaraes as they attempt to convince Newcastle United to sell their star midfield maestro.

Here we are again – Barcelona being linked with players they probably can’t afford.

The Catalan giants had a truly bizarre summer in which they kept signing players despite appearing to be lacking the funds to pull off deals.

The goal was for Barcelona to add so much quality that they could bring in big cash from going deep into the Champions League.

To say that plan hasn’t paid off is an understatement as Barcelona haven’t even made it out of their Champions League group.

Barcelona want Bruno Guimaraes

Joan Laporta and co will now look for more big signings as they take big risks to try and get Barcelona back to the top.

A new midfielder appears to be a priority for Barcelona.

Frenkie de Jong could still leave the club in 2023 and an heir to Sergio Busquets is still needed at the Camp Nou.

The Sunday Mirror (30/10, p79) now report that Barcelona want to sign Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United.

This comes just days after TNT Sports claimed that Chelsea, Liverpool and Real Madrid all want Bruno.

It’s now suggested that Barca will try to shuffle their pack following their Champions League nightmare and Bruno is one player they want.

Look, we get it; Bruno has been outstanding for Newcastle and has shown the ability to do it all in midfield.

Break up play, dictate from deep, get forward to score goals, create in the final third – Bruno looks pretty complete as a midfielder.

Yet if Barcelona think they have a chance of signing Bruno then they’re blissfully unaware of the current climate in the North East.

Newcastle are under absolutely no pressure to sell and are in a position to demand money that Barcelona can’t afford unless they start selling off more parts of the club.

Newcastle paid £40million for Bruno in January and 90Min claim that the Magpies would plan to reject nine-figure bids for the Brazilian.

Put simply, there just feels like no way that Barcelona can even come up with an offer to make Newcastle think, never mind actually sell him.
