Magpies boss Rafa Benitez spoke to reporters during the aftermath of his side’s impressive 3-1 win at Huddersfield Town yesterday, and urged his players to go on and break the club’s record of 13 away wins in a single season, as quoted by their official website.
Newcastle now sit in a really strong position at the top of the Championship table, five points clear of second placed Brighton & Hove Albion, and they will surely now be extremely confident in their chances of automatic promotion back to the Premier League.
Benitez’ men have won 13 of their 18 away fixtures in the league so far this term, and have already tied the record set by Kevin Keegan’s side during the 1992/93 season.
And the Spaniard urged his side to keep going, when speaking to reporters, highlighting how their overall objective is still the most important thing on the agenda, as quoted by NUFC.co.uk:

“It is important to be at the top of the table but hopefully we can break the record. That means we will continue winning, so that will be really positive for the final objective.”
The Tyneside outfit can make history in their next outing – a trip to the Madejski Stadium to take on fifth placed Reading on Tuesday night, in a game that will complete their horror run of away fixtures.
They have already taken six points from consecutive away games at Brighton and Huddersfield, however, so they will be in buoyant mood as they head to Berkshire to take on the Royals.
