Newcastle United have scouted Amine Gouiri ahead of potentially launching a bid to sign the Nice striker this summer, though face competition from Arsenal.
Newcastle raided the French market in January to secure Bruno Guimaraes from Lyon.
That move has proven to be an absolute masterstroke with Guimaraes quickly becoming a fan favourite at Newcastle.
You could hardly blame Newcastle for going back to the French market again this summer.
Hugo Ekitike continues to be linked with Newcastle but it could be another striker who departs Ligue 1 for St James’ Park.
Newcastle United have scouted Amine Gouiri
Newcastle are now eyeing up NIce forward Gouiri and actually scouted him earlier this month ahead of a possible bid.
It’s suggested that one member of Howe’s coaching staff headed to Nice to watch Gouiri in action.
Nice allegedly want around £30million for Gouiri, a fee that will leave Celtic wondering what might have been.
Back in the summer of 2020, Le Progres in France reported that Celtic had made a move to sign Gouiri from Lyon.
However, Celtic backed away from a deal as they felt the £6million transfer demand was a little too pricey.

Fast forward two years and it looks like Gouiri could be on the move for five times that fee with clubs queueing up.
Newcastle are keen but the report notes that Arsenal and even Real Madrid are interested in Gouiri too.
Gouiri, 22, has racked up 10 goals and nine assists in 38 Ligue 1 games for Nice this season.
Capable of playing up top or on the left flank, Gouiri has shown that he is quick, skilful and creative as well as a goal threat himself.
That will make Gouiri very appealing and with Newcastle seeking another goalscoring option to help Callum Wilson and Chris Wood, the Frenchman could be their man.
