Newcastle United are eyeing Amadou Diallo and have taken the former West Ham United teenager on trial as they consider a deal.

The Magpies have placed a keen focus on adding young players for their developmental ranks of late.

Youngsters Jude Smith, Jordan Hackett, Charlie McArthur and Alex Murphy all joined Newcastle this summer.

Dan Ashworth and co really want to make sure that Newcastle are adding young talent for the future and another has arrived.

Garang Kuol has agreed his move from Central Coast Mariners and will complete his move in January, with Newcastle possibly already finding their next target.

Newcastle United are eyeing Amadou Diallo

Newcastle’s Under-21’s were in action on Friday night, taking on North East neighbours Middlesbrough at Bishop Auckland.

The game finished in a 1-1 draw as Dylan Stephenson’s opener was cancelled out by a last-gasp Joe Gibson equaliser.

Newcastle will be disappointed not to have won, but fans were probably more focused on a mysterious trialist named in the Magpies starting XI.

The Chronicle now suggest that the trialist was former West Ham United talent Amadou Diallo.

It’s noted that Chelsea also took a close look at Diallo over the summer too but it’s now Newcastle who are exploring a potential deal.

Diallo, 19, was described as ‘electric’ on the West Ham official website back in 2018 but was released by the Hammers this past summer.

The teenager started for Newcastle on Friday night and will hope to have done enough to earn himself a move to St James’ Park.

Diallo played 25 times for West Ham’s Under-21’s, picking up five goals and two assists in those games.

Primarily a left winger, Diallo has also turned out for England in years gone by, notching three goals in seven games for the Under-17’s.

Newcastle may well feel that they have found a diamond in the rough in Diallo, who can bring some pace to the Newcastle ranks whilst having the ability to play on either flank.
