Newcastle United want Adrien Rabiot but it sounds like a January deal to lure him away from Juventus will be too difficult to complete.

The Magpies may be tempted to move for a new midfielder in 2023.

Sean Longstaff and Joe Willock have recaptured their form under Eddie Howe whilst Joelinton has become a quality midfielder.

Bruno Guimaraes brings the star power but Newcastle may look to add another player, with a couple of trains of thought.

Newcastle could either add a holding midfielder to free up Bruno going forward or sign a playmaker to create in the final third.

Newcastle United want Adrien Rabiot

Instead, Newcastle are being linked with a player who doesn’t really fit either mould.

Tuttomercatoweb claim that Newcastle are interested in a January deal for Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot.

It’s suggested that a ‘great offer’ could come from Newcastle but a deal for the Frenchman will be difficult.

The report claims that Rabiot is currently expected to see out the final months of his Juventus contract and then pick his next club.

Rabiot is out of contract in the summer and may be tempted to take the huge signing-on fee that moving as a free agent will bring.

Yet the other train of thought is that Rabiot could capitalise on a strong World Cup campaign with a big January move.

Rabiot has impressed in the France midfield over in Qatar, helping deal with the loss of injured players Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kante.

A move to Manchester United over the summer was floated and seemed a little bizarre at the time given that Rabiot has never really lived up to his billing.

This World Cup is changing the narrative on Rabiot a little though and Newcastle are seemingly impressed with his displays.

Rabiot, 27, has bagged five goals and two assists in 16 games for Juventus this season, which is a very decent return for the midfielder.

Newcastle may hope to add him to Eddie Howe’s midfield but it sounds like a January deal will prove very difficult to pull off with Rabiot preferring to wait.
