Newcastle United are in the market for defensive reinforcements and are now being linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain’s Abdou Diallo.

The Magpies are in real danger of relegation despite their takeover, and simply have to spend on defensive additions in January.

A host of centre backs have been linked, and Foot Mercato now claim that Newcastle fancy signing Diallo from PSG.

PSG splashed a huge €32million (£27million) on signing Diallo from Borussia Dortmund in 2019.

The Senegal international, 25, has played seven league games this season, all at left back.

That’s despite being a centre back by trade, which is likely where Newcastle would play him if they can secure a deal.

Diallo may not be a nailed-on starter for PSG, but he has shown real ability with Dortmund and PSG and could immediately help Newcastle’s back line.

Newcastle fans react to Diallo rumour

Newcastle fans are taking to Twitter to react to these rumours, with many backing a move for Diallo.

They believe that Diallo is the profile of defender Newcastle need – left footed, athletic and capable on the ball.

Others think Newcastle should ‘go all out’ for Diallo, believing he is a ‘fantastic’ defender.

It seems that, if Newcastle go go for Diallo come January, fans would absolutely love the move.
