Newcastle United beat Stoke City 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Rafael Benitez, Manager of Newcastle United
Newcastle United made it three Premier League wins in a row on Saturday afternoon, beating Stoke City 2-1 at St. James’ Park.
Having beaten West Ham United 3-0 and Swansea City 1-0, the Magpies had started to show signs of form in the top flight under Rafael Benitez, having initially struggled in the opening two games.
On Saturday, Newcastle made it three in a row, getting started with Christian Atsu’s back-post finish from an inch-perfect Matt Ritchie cross.

Newcastle went on to miss a whole host of chances, and looked set to regret those squandered opportunities as Xherdan Shaqiri bent home a superb long-range equaliser for Stoke.
However, Newcastle did get their win in the end, with Jamaal Lascelles making it two goals in six days, meeting another Ritchie corner with a thumping header – just as he did to win the game against Swansea.
The win means Newcastle – possibly temporarily – sit in the Champions League spots, and manager Benitez appears to be getting the best out of his players despite some transfer mishaps over the summer.

After the final whistle, captain and match-winner Lascelles took to Twitter to send a message to fans, commenting on a fantastic performance whilst sharing his delight at giving the fans another win.
The likes of Rob Elliot, DeAndre Yedlin, Chancel Mbemba, Jamie Sterry, Isaac Hayden, Joselu and goalscorer Atsu also celebrated the win, as Newcastle go from strength to strength in the top flight.
