A select round-up of the most up-to-date Newcastle transfer news and gossip.

As exclusively revealed by HITC Sport earlier on Monday, Newcastle United are pursuing a deal for Wolfsburg star striker Bas Dost.
The Netherlands international, who has scored 37 goals in 84 Bundesliga game, could be allowed to leave the German club after they bolstered their attacking ranks with the sign of veteran Germany forward Mario Gomez.
However, there is also Premier League interest in the 27-year-old and it would be a real coup for the Magpies to pull off the signing.
Another man interesting the Magpies, according to L’Equipe, is Utrecht frontman Sebastien Haller.
The French publication claims that Rafael Benitez has spoken to the 22-year-old by phone to sound him put about a potential deal, and that Haller is open to a move to the Championship.
Tim Krul is set to sign a new contract at Newcastle but then immediately head out on loan to Ajax to deputise for the injured Jasper Cillessen, according to a report from the Daily Mail.

Krul will sign a one-year contract extension on top of his current deal, which expires next summer, but looks set to return to the Netherlands in the short term.
Benitez is quoted by the paper as saying: “He has one year left on his contract and we have five keepers are the moment. We have Sels now, we have Darlow and we have Woodman so we can’t keep five keepers for the whole season… It depends if anyone is interested. If they are, we will listen to them.”
Benitez has also spoken on recent reports linking Daryl Janmaat with a move away, with West Ham and Watford thought to be keen on the right-back.
The Spaniard admitted that the Dutchman could yet move in the final nine days of the transfer window, saying [via the Shields Gazette]: “It’s difficult to say. He’s a player I like, but if someone comes with a fantastic offer, we will analyse everything.”
The news comes after Newcastle missed out on signing Everton full-back Brendan Galloway on loan, with the 20-year-old instead joining West Bromwich Albion.

In a somewhat surprising move, Benitez has admitted that Yoan Gouffran could yet return to the fold at Newcastle after the Frenchman impressed the manager in training.
Benitez said, via the Chronicle: “Little by little, I could see that he was still training well and working hard, and could be an option for us. Last week, we said, ‘Are you ready to play?’, and he said, ‘Yes, I am a professional’. That was what I wanted to hear and when we put him on the pitch, he did well.
“It will not be a problem if he stays. He is a good professional, and he is happy here. He has been training well and I think he likes the way we work. If he does not get any fantastic offers that he feels he has to take because he is 30 years old, then he is a player who can give us a lot of things.”
One player who has left St. James’ Park is Siem de Jong, with PSV Eindhoven completing the season-long loan signing of the injury-prone Dutchman.
Finally, Rafael Benitez has confirmed that he could be set to send Adam Armstrong back out on loan this season.
There had been talk of Armstrong fighting for his place at St. James’ Park, but with Aleksandar Mitrovic returning from injury to join summer signing Dwight Gayle and Ayoze Perez in the battle for what is currently a lone striker’s role, Armstrong appears to be some way down the pecking order.
Benitez said, as quoted by the Chronicle: “We are analysing what we have to do. If we bring in a striker with more experience he will have a chance to go on loan. We still have to decide.”
