A select look at the best of the transfer news and gossip surrounding the Magpies on the penultimate day of transfer window.

The Shields Gazette has claimed that controversial midfielder Ravel Morrison is not a target for Newcastle, despite bookmakers yesterday making the Magpies favourites for the former Manchester United and West Ham midfielder’s signature.
The paper also insists that Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic is not a target for the club in the wake of reports linking the Tyneside club with a loan move for the out-of-favour man.
It does appear as though Chelsea winger Christian Atsu will be joining the club on loan, however with the Chronicle reporting that the club will announce the deal on Tuesday.
There will be an option to make the deal permanent next summer.

The Magpies have also made a move with regards to the future, signing 16-year-old Finnish Under-17 international goalkeeper Otto Huutanen to join up with their youth side.
New Newcastle signing Achraf Lazaar turned down a move to Serie A challengers Fiorentina to instead move to St. James’ Park, or so his agent has told tuttomercatoweb.
Lazaar joined the Magpies at the end of last week, signing for a reported bargain fee of just £2 million.
His agent, Andrea Cattoli, has revealed that an agreement had been reached for his client to join La Viola before he was convinced to snub the Serie A side in favour of Newcastle after talking personally to Rafael Benitez.

According to the Shields Gazette, Cheick Tiote now looks set to join Greek giants Olympiacos after a move to Galatasaray broke down at a late stage.
Tiote had looked poised for a move to Turkey before the club allegedly pulled the plug on the deal over concerns about his fitness flagged up in his medical.
However, the paper insists that the Ivorian did not fail his medical with the Istanbul club, and that he will be fit enough to move to Piraeus in the next 29 hours or so.
