The Newcastle United transfer news is hotting up and they have been tipped to move for Tottenham Hotspur-linked Anthony Gordon, amid doubt over his Everton future.
The Magpies have allowed Chris Wood to join Nottingham Forest in a decision which could, in theory, open up space for another attacking player at St James’s Park.
Tottenham have been linked [The Sun] and Antonio Conte is thought to believe that Gordon has a ‘special’ quality [Give Me Sport].
With some Everton supporters verbally abusing their 21-year-old winger following a defeat by Southampton last week, a departure from Goodison Park wouldn’t be a massive shock.
And Alex Crook from talkSPORT has claimed this morning he has been told that Newcastle are primed to make a move before the window shuts next week.

He said: “If he had his way he would be [leaving]. Newcastle is the one I’ve been told to keep an eye. Dan Ashworth, their sporting director, is a big fan of Anthony Gordon. I’d keep an eye on that one. It wouldn’t surprise me if Newcastle made a bid.”
Being in a relegation battle every season won’t suit Gordon at all.
He is absolutely one of Everton’s better players, regardless whether he shows it or not, and joining someone like Newcastle could be massive for him.
He’d be surrounded by much better footballers than he is at the moment – the same if Tottenham were to make a late offer.
Either way, he needs a change in scenery and it’ll be interesting to see if Crook is right.
