Newcastle United are ready to frustrate Real Madrid in any efforts the Galacticos make for the transfer of Bruno Guimaraes. The midfielder may even need to push to leave the Toon.
That is according to Dean Jones, who reports that Newcastle feel Guimaraes would now be worth more than £85m. Yet Real Madrid may even struggle to convince the Magpies to sell for offers in that region. While the 25-year-old is more than happy with his life on Tyneside.
So content is Guimaraes at St James’ Park, in fact, that Newcastle sense he does not want to leave yet. Thus Toon chiefs are planning to offer the Brazilian a new contract and a huge pay rise. He currently earns £120k-a-week but could expect to earn around £200k-a-week.

Newcastle plan a new contract to fend off transfer interest in Bruno Guimaraes
Newcastle are confident that any negotiations about a new contract for Guimaraes will not drag on. The Magpies hope to find an agreement with the 25-year-old soon to fend off any interest in a deal. St James’ chiefs also hope it will let them focus on their summer targets.
The Toon want to make five signings in the off-season to improve on the momentum Eddie Howe has overseen this term. Newcastle also view Guimaraes as a key asset for their plans for the immediate future. So, the club is prepared to frustrate Real Madrid over his transfer.

Do Real Madrid want to sign the midfielder during the next summer window?
Real Madrid have marked Guimaraes as a target for the summer but Newcastle consider a transfer almost impossible to allow. Defensa Central reports Los Blancos’ interest in the 10-cap Brazil international. The Galacticos view him as the backup target to Jude Bellingham.
Santiago Bernabeu chiefs consider Guimaraes to be their Plan-B as luring Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund will prove challenging. But Real Madrid also accept they may need him to ask Newcastle to grant a transfer. His existing contract runs to 2026, so may be an issue.
Let alone Newcastle’s desire to more than double their investment to consider the transfer of Guimaraes. The Toon paid Lyon an initial £35m, rising £6.5m in add-ons, for the 25-year-old, who Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp calls ‘massive’ for the Magpies, in January 2022.
