According to The Telegraph, Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves is too expensive for Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United, and this will come as a boost for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
Liverpool target Ruben Neves too expensive for Newcastle United
The report has claimed that Newcastle are interested in signing Neves from Premier League rivals Wolves in the January transfer window.
The Magpies have discussed internally a potential move for the Portugal international midfielder.
Wolves do not want to sell Neves now.
The report has added that the 25-year-old would be too expensive for Newcastle even if they wait until the summer of 2023.

Boost for Liverpool
And this will come as a boost for Liverpool, who have also been linked with Neves, described as “a top, top player” and “sensational” by former Manchester United star Gary Neville on Sky Sports Premier League (7:29pm, March 18, 2022).
The Mirror have claimed that Liverpool are interested in Neves and want to sign him in January.
If Newcastle are backing away from a deal for Neves, then there would be less competition for Liverpool.
Now, we do not think that Wolves will be tempted to sell the Portuguese star in January even for a huge transfer fee.
After all, the Wanderers are aiming to avoid relegation to the Championship at the end of the season.
However, a transfer to Liverpool in the summer of 2023 could well happen.
