According to The Daily Mail, Newcastle United scouts have suggested the Magpies to sign Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie, a player Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur have already bid for.

The report has claimed that Newcastle scouts have been impressed by Kessie and have suggested the former AC Milan midfielder to the Magpies.

The Ivory Coast international joined Barcelona on a free transfer in the summer of 2022 after leaving AC Milan at the end of last season.

However, the 26-year-old is reportedly available for a move this month.

The Daily Mail have added that although Newcastle scouts have suggested Kessie to the Magpies, ‘other targets on the list are preferred’.

Newcastle are not the only Premier League club who have been linked with Kessie in the January transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur are also claimed to be keen on the midfielder who won the Serie A title with AC Milan last season.

Alfredo Martínez, a journalist for Onda Cero, said on Radioestadio Noche this month that Tottenham have made a bid for the Ivory Coast international midfielder, who earns £69,000 per week (SalarySport) at Barcelona at the moment and has been described as “terrific” by former Chelsea star Craig Burley on ESPN.

Now, if Newcastle have other priority targets, then it is a boost for Tottenham in their quest to sign Kessie, as they will not face competition from the Magpies.
