A fresh claim has been made that Newcastle United have taken a key step to complete a transfer for Piotr Zielinski.

The highly-rated midfielder is having yet another splendid season with Napoli and has perhaps gone under the radar due to the brilliance of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Victor Osimhen.

As Piotr Zielinski sees his contract expire in 2024, it has been reported that Newcastle United are keen on a summer transfer for him.

The 28-year-old has been in sensational touch for the inevitable Serie A winners, registering seven goals and eight assists in all competitions from central midfield.

While Zielinski has often not been given the credit he well and truly deserves, former Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti told Radio Anchi’o Sport, as relayed by Football Italia that he is a ‘complete midfielder.’

As per a report by Il Matino, as relayed by Spazio Napoli, Newcastle United are ‘lurking’ in the shadows in the hopes of a potential ransfer as Piotr Zielinski is yet to sign a contract extension.

While Napoli intend to tie their talismanic midfielder down to a three-year deal, it has been claimed that the player’s decision depends on all the offers he has at his disposal.

Further details claim that Zielinski is attracted by the prospect of playing in the Premier League and Newcastle have made the ‘first moves’ to get a transfer over the line for him.

Other suitors have remained unnamed but it has been said that Eddie Howe and Co. are not the only side interested in the Pole.

HITC View: Zielinski would elevate the Magpies’ technical level

A glimpse at the Premier League’s two current best teams in Arsenal and Manchester City is enough to discover that just technically, the pair are in a league of their own.

If Newcastle aim to reach that level, they must do all they can get to secure a transfer for a player like Piotr Zielinski, who is technically proficient.

Especially in the middle of the park, as Sean Longstaff and Joelinton can be upgraded upon from a technical standpoint for the side to further elevate and control games.
