A claim has been made that Newcastle United have told Barcelona that they are willing to stump up a £70 million transfer fee to sign Raphinha.
It was claimed that the Brazilian international’s £115,000-a-week wages are not considered as an obstacle for the Magpies in their pursuit to complete his signature.
It seems like Newcastle United are ready to pull out all the stops to secure the transfer of Raphinha ahead of next season.
Newcastle tell Barcelona about £70 million Raphinha transfer offer
The former Leeds United winger, branded as ‘special’ by Robert Lewandowski via Mundo Deportivo has had a mixed time at the Spotify Camp Nou.
While the silky winger’s performances have improved as the campaign has progressed, it would also be fair to claim that he has not had the impact that was expected once the move initially went through.
As per the latest information provided by journalist Gerard Romero, as relayed by SPORT, Newcastle have ‘verbally communicated’ their desire to get a transfer over the line for Raphinha for £70 million.

It has further been claimed that while Xavi’s side do not plan to sell the skilful attacker, the £70 million offer could force them to let him go.
HITC View: Raphinha would be one hell of a signing for the Magpies
As Newcastle United must be assessing their transfer targets ahead of the following season already, Raphinha would prove to be an incredible upgrade on Miguel Almiron.
The Paraguayan’s form since the World Cup has dipped massively and while Jacob Murphy has been in impressive touch, one imagines that his performances as well are not sustainable in the long-term.
Raphinha proved at Leeds that he thrives in a counter-attacking based system, which is also in place under Eddie Howe’s setup.
With him having showcased his ability to press and defend for his life under Marcelo Bielsa as well, the 26-year-old could make for a perfect fit at St. James’ Park.
