Newcastle United are reportedly willing to sell Allan Saint-Maximin for a fee of £26million before Tuesday’s deadline with AC Milan in talks – but after Everton missed out on Arnaut Danjuma, they should convince the Toon to sell him.
Newcastle and Everton could be about to do some business themselves. Anthony Gordon has missed Everton training for a second consecutive day, and a move to Tyneside is nearing. It is expected that Newcastle would pay £35million.
It comes after Everton missed out on Netherlands international Danjuma. The winger agreed a move to Everton this month, even doing media, before Tottenham hijacked Everton’s deal. He joins Spurs on loan, with an option to buy.
So, Everton are down in the dumps. Without a manager, failing to get Danjuma over the line and with Gordon looking as though he will leave. They need additions in the final third if they are to stand any chance of surviving relegation.
Everton should convince Newcastle to sell Saint-Maximin for £26million
Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Milan are in talks for Saint-Maximin, with a fee of £26million required. Whether that would be a similar fee for a Premier League rival, remains to be seen. Everton will have cash to spend, if Gordon goes.
Saint-Maximin has failed to start a Premier League match for the Toon since August 28, a game in which he scored a stunning volley to draw with Wolves. Injury has seen him fall down the pecking order on Tyneside under Eddie Howe.
In April 2022, 90Min say Everton were keeping tabs on Saint-Maximin. So, if Newcastle sign Gordon, Saint-Maximin will fall down the pecking order further. The Toffees should hand the Frenchman an escape route – and meet the £26m tag.
Perhaps, even include Saint-Maximin in a deal for Gordon plus the difference in valuation. Such a move would suit both clubs. Everton need a winger, Saint-Maximin will want a move, Newcastle are open to a sale. It makes sense.
