Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United want to sign Mohammed Salisu from Southampton in the summer transfer window, according to The Mirror.

Newcastle United want to sign Southampton defender Mohammed Salisu

The report has claimed that Newcastle wanted to sign Salisu from Premier League rivals Southampton in the January transfer window.

However, no move materialised.

The Magpies, though, have not given up on bringing the defender to St. James’ Park.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is reportedly a big fan of Salisu and wants the 23-year-old centre-back in his team for next season and beyond.

Could a summer transfer happen?

In our view, Newcastle United could be able to sign Mohammed Salisu from Premier League rivals Southampton in the summer transfer window.

The Magpies are aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season, while the Saints are in danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.

We think that the defender could be tempted by a move to Newcastle, who are going places under PIF.

And Southampton themselves could be tempted to sell the defender for a transfer fee more than the £10.9 million (Sky Sports) they paid for him.
