Newcastle United are interested in signing Mike Maignan from AC Milan in the summer transfer window, according to a report in the Italian media.
Newcastle United want to sign AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan
CMW have reported that Newcastle are willing to pay as much as €60 million (£53 million) in transfer fees for the France international goalkeeper.
However, there is one condition.
Although the Magpies are ready to pay that amount for Maignan, they will only do so if they qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season.
Newcastle are third in the Premier League table at the moment with 59 points from 31 matches.
Eddie Howe’s side are level on points with fourth-placed Manchester United, who have played 30 games.
Tottenham in fifth have picked up 53 points from 32 games so far this season.

HITC Verdict: Potentially good signing for the Magpies
In our view, Mike Maignan would be a very good signing for Newcastle United in the summer transfer window.
Yes, Nick Pope is doing extremely well for the Magpies at the moment, but Maignan is one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
The 27-year-old is hugely experienced, and he would be able to make an immediate impact at St. James’ Park.
